Hasmonean School is a centre of educational excellence, serving the Orthodox Jewish Community in North West London.
cube_design was approached and asked to consider the possibility of combining the Hasmonean Boys’ and Girls’ Schools on to one campus, while observing the stringent religious practices of the faith school. A number of options were created, to assess the placement of the new school accommodation, while ensuring that the existing girls’ school remains operational during the construction of the new building on the Page Street site.
Each of the new schools will be 4FE, with a 350 place sixth form facility, bringing the total number of students to 1350.
The site is located in the greenbelt, part of which is also designated as Metropolitan Open Land. The team worked closely with the GLA and the Mayor of London to develop a scheme that provides a high-quality educational building, whilst respecting its surroundings, the mature trees on the site and preserving public access as much as possible. The development also provides a full-size all weather pitch, tennis courts and MUGA, which are available for public use.
