Cheswick is a brand new urban village made up of a number of smaller ‘hamlets’. When complete, the development will consist of more than 1,000 homes, with a district centre (Cheswick Village Square) and primary school at its heart. The site has been designed as a sustainable and practical place to live, work and play, with a series of green corridors linking places within the site and also connecting to the wider area. The streets and open spaces have been designed to give priority to the movement of people over that of cars with a series of dedicated pedestrian and cycle routes.
The ‘Village Square’ located at the centre of the site, incorporates mixed-use accommodation arranged around a new landscaped plaza. The scheme comprises 93 apartments, a 44 bed assisted-living retirement home, retail units, a restaurant, public house, cafe, gymnasium, crèche and car parking.
